PROCUREMENT COORDINATOR

Tera Janelle Design is a full-service residential interior design firm, specializing in custom renovations and ground-up new construction projects, guiding clients through every detail of the design, build, and furnishing process.  We are based in Lynchburg, Virginia and work with clients throughout Virginia and beyond.

We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented Office Admin/Procurement Coordinator to support our design team from an operational and logistical standpoint. This role is essential to the seamless execution of our projects, ensuring that all orders, timelines, and administrative processes are managed with care and precision. This is not a creative design role. Instead, it is ideal for someone who thrives behind the scenes—bringing structure, clarity, and efficiency to a fast-paced, detail-driven design environment.

 

Job Role:​
 

  • Manage procurement of furnishings, materials, and accessories across multiple projects

  • Coordinate with vendors, workrooms, and trades regarding products, orders, and lead times

  • Support project management tasks, including budgeting, invoicing, generating purchase orders, order tracking, receiving, scheduling, and installations

  • Maintain internal vendor databases and vendor relationships; seek out new vendor opportunities

  • Support the principal designer in providing a high-level client experience

  • Prepare and manage client-facing documents, invoices, and purchase orders

  • Oversee daily office operations and maintain an organized, efficient studio environment

  • Develop and maintain systems, workflows, and documentation to support team productivity

  • Manage calendars, scheduling, and internal coordination

  • Support bookkeeping processes in coordination with accounting

  • Engage in training, markets, and learning opportunities to foster continued growth in interior design processes and relevant technologies.

Qualifications:
 

  • Strong organizational skills with extreme attention to detail

  • 5+ years experience in administrative, logistics, operations, or procurement roles (required)

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and timelines simultaneously

  • Clear, professional communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Proficiency in tools such as Google Workspace, Excel, and project management systems

  • A proactive, problem-solving mindset

  • Takes ownership of details and ensures nothing falls through the cracks

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively

  • Initiative-driven forward thinker who thrives in a collaborative environment and is eager to grow with an established team.

Schedule:

Position is part-time with strong potential to transition to a full time role. Position provides a hybrid work scheduleon location in our Lynchburg design studio, Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday (9:00 AM - 2:30 PM), and remotely Tuesday (9:00 AM - 2:30 PM). Additional hours available based on project loads and installation schedules.

Job Role:​
 

  • Develop detailed interior drawings, including floor plans, elevations, and custom cabinetry and millwork designs.

  • Collaborate with construction teams to ensure accurate implementation of design plans.

  • Collaborate with Principal Designer on project design concepts and development.

  • Create digital 3D models and renderings.

  • Generate highly organized and detailed project specification schedules.

  • Draw, review, and annotate construction and shop drawings.

  • Communicate with clients, contractors, design team, and trades to support an environment of high-level collaboration, timely communication, and creative problem solving.

  • Support project management tasks, including budgeting, receiving, procurement tracking, and scheduling.

  • Engage in training, markets, and learning opportunities to foster continued growth in interior design and relevant technologies.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5+ years professional work experience in residential interiors (required).

  • Degree in Interior Design and/or Architecture (draftsman) from an accredited program (preferred, but not required).

  • Detail-oriented self starter, who thrives in a collaborative environment and is eager to grow with a team.

  • Experienced in collaborating with construction teams to ensure accurate implementation of design plans.

  • High-level proficiency in technical design software such as AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and SketchUp (portfolio required).

  • High attention to detail to ensure design intent, as well as technical and financial accuracy.

  • Experience with residential custom furniture, fabrics, finishes and decorative items.

Schedule:

Position provides a hybrid work scheduleon location in our Lynchburg design studio, Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday (8:30 AM - 4:00 PM), and remotely Tuesday (8:30 AM - 4:00 PM). Additional hours available based on project loads and installation schedules.

INTERIOR DESIGNER 

DESIGN INTERN 

Tera Janelle Design is a full-service residential interior design firm, specializing in custom renovations and ground-up new construction projects, guiding clients through every detail of the design, build, and furnishing process.  We are based in Lynchburg, Virginia and work with clients throughout Virginia and beyond.

 

Our Design Intern position is open to senior-level or graduate students pursuing degrees in interior design or architecture, or non-student applicants of 2+ years relevant work experience. As a hired role within our firm, this position operates independently of the academic calendar and functions as a traditional part-time position. Start dates are determined based on both project timelines and the applicant’s availability. 

Interns gain experience in construction design, soft furnishings, design installations, project coordination, interior design marketing, photoshoot styling, and the behind the scenes daily tasks of running an interior design studio.


Schedule:
 

  • The design intern position is a 6-month position.

  • Upon invitation by TJD, interns may opt to complete a second, consecutive 6-month internship, providing a full year of work experience at our design firm.

  • 20 hrs/week within M-TH (9 AM - 4 PM) and Friday (9 AM - Noon) studio hours.

  • Program start date and weekly days/times based on studio timelines and applicant's availability.
     

Intern Job Role:
 

  • Develop detailed interior drawings, including floor plans, elevations, and custom cabinetry and millwork designs.

  • Build proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, Enscape, and SketchUp.

  • Create digital 3D models and renderings.

  • Support project management tasks, including budgeting, receiving, procurement tracking, and scheduling.

  • Collaborate on photo-shoot and final reveal styling

  • Develop and organize the sample resource library

  • Participate in daily tasks of running an interior design studio
     

Qualifications:
 

  • Preference given to senior or graduate-level interior design or architecture students. Also qualifies, non-student applicants of 2+ years relevant work experience in interiors, architecture, or a construction related field.

  • Strong AutoCAD and Sketch Up/rendering proficiency is REQUIRED.

  • Submission of resume, portfolio, and two letters of recommendation

  • Experience in design software such as AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, Enscape, and SketchUp (portfolio required).

  • This is a paid internship, compensated via stipend upon successful conclusion of the internship.
