TERA JANELLE
OWNER & PRINCIPAL DESIGNER
A Wisconsin farm girl who fell in love with the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, Tera Janelle adores nearly every type of cheese (blue cheese especially), sunny days, classic interiors, and the perfect shade of greige.
In 2007, Tera launched her interior design company, now eponymously Tera Janelle Design. With projects ranging from beach houses and new builds to mountain estates and historic homes, Tera specializes in full scale concept-to-completion construction to furnishings design. Her work has been featured throughout Virginia design publications and published nationally at ElleDecor.com, House & Home, HGTV.ca, and in Domino Magazine.
Married to her high school sweetheart, Tera and her husband reside in Lynchburg, Virginia with their twin girls. When not at work, you will find Tera in flip flops at the beach, strolling historic neighborhoods, or searching for a sunny spot with mountain views to enjoy an al fresco meal with friends and family.

With 18 years experience in construction design and furnishings, Tera Janelle Design specializes in custom cabinetry, renovations, and ground-up new construction projects, guiding clients through every detail of the design, build, and furnishing process.

MEET THE TEAM
An avid Hokies fan with a passion for construction and design, Amanda holds an interior design degree from Virginia Tech. She has had the pleasure to partner in the design of a Washington-based co-working space, a Roanoke brewery, and a renovation concept for Shanks Hall on the Virginia Tech campus, as well as countless homes and spaces for residential clients.
Amanda joined the Tera Janelle Design team in 2021. She enjoys the culminating nature and deep relationships fostered by the design process, from creating the initial CAD designs and 3D renderings, to the myriad of steps involved in the implementation, construction development, procurement, and final installation process.
Born and raised in Evington, VA, the Virginia mountains continue to serve as Amanda's inspiration. She enjoys landscape photography and hiking the Cascades Trail alongside her husband and dog. When not on the hiking trail, Amanda loves Virginia Tech football games and Mexican Cuisine, even Taco Bell will do, but especially La Carreta.

INTERIOR DESIGNER
A University of Alabama graduate with a degree in interior design, Emily brings to the team a decade of experience in construction and design. After graduating from UA, she returned home to Charlottesville, where she worked as a Project Manager in the construction and design industry.
A few years later, her creative ambitions led her west to Denver, drawn by its vibrant design community. There she worked as a designer at two large interior design firms and had the opportunity to collaborate with talented teams on a variety of unique residential and commercial projects. Her time in Colorado provided invaluable experience in project management, workflow efficiency, and staying attuned to evolving design trends.
While her projects took her across the country, her heart eventually drew her back to Virginia. Emily, her husband, their daughter, and their naughty cat now proudly call Lynchburg home.
Between the chaos of motherhood and her own home renovation projects, Emily recharges outdoors – skiing, fly fishing, and gardening – or enjoying live music with family and friends.

With a background in corporate operations, program management, and administrative coordination, Abbie brings a thoughtful, detail-driven approach to the behind-the-scenes systems that keep Tera Janelle Design running.
Before joining TJD, Abbie spent six years in the corporate HR world, managing complex workflows and multi-stakeholder projects in fast-paced corporate environments. She developed a reputation for organization, proactive communication, and creating structure amidst complexity. At Tera Janelle, Abbie excels in the behind-the-scenes, operational work that allows our creative team to thrive and to deliver an exceptional client experience.
Abbie studied International Studies, French, and Russian at the University of Wyoming, where her love of culture, travel, and communication first began to take shape. During her studies, she completed study abroad programs in both Russia and the United Kingdom, experiences that deepened her appreciation for thoughtful details, meaningful connection, and new perspectives. Outside the studio, Abbie enjoys discovering great Asian food, growing her sticker collection, traveling, and continuously learning.
